The United States was founded with religious freedom in mind, colonials seeking refuge from a tyrannical system. 238 Years later we are faced with important and decisive questions about immigration and freedom of expression. How will the United States retain its leadership in global culture and economy with the increasing political tensions of race, religion and ethnicity?
Look at America today and you can see a populous of some of the best and the brightest minds in the world. You can also see some of the biggest societal issues the world has ever seen. The United States posted 104% debt of the projected GDP -16 Trillion American dollars. How is our generation going to pay for it? With world economies strengthening and technology advancing in a way were automation makes some careers obsolete society will need to embrace career development and rigor to protect inflation. Will society be able to sustain the current model of hyper-consumerism or will the US become a post first world nation stuck in a financial rut?
New President today. I hope it is a good thing for the United States and our freedom.
the new is to the old as the grey is to the black, sorry Obama. There is a new season of life. The world has some big happenings – some good and some bad, and there is a lot of it happening at the moment. Reading lots of new outlets counting up the statistics and it seems like the world is becoming more realistic and pragmatic, while at the same time there are many big looming political and terrorist conflicts or strait up confusions in the world. I am not going to even attempt to analyze that in any critical form, because it is just exhausting sometimes.
Personally, I am in the process of looking at my goals and what I will focus on as an early 30s adult in the Pacific Northwest: the normal list consists of adventure in the wilderness, career building (and restarting a bit), good country dancing (Oregon has a nice demographic of tall white girls), and staying connected with family and friends while building new relationships. But there are deeper levels here that I am starting to see needs for – how do I stayed connected to the community in some sort of volunteering capacity? Are the seasons right to plant a little indoor garden? Do I focus on professional development in Architecture or temporarily shift to retail? With the world spinning at the same rate as the century past we have a lot more means for connectivity and community development. I am looking forward to seeing how 2017 becomes a good year – I say that with a bit of hope that people placed in power will make wise decisions at national and international levels.
